The overall response is expressed as follows:

NaCl+H2O→NaCl O+H2↑

Electrode reaction:

Anode:2Cl-2e→CI2

Cathode:2H++2e→H2

Solution reaction:

2NaOH+Cl2→NaCl+NaClO+H2↑

The anode material can be coated titanium anode or mixed oxide coated titanium anode,which has a long service life and a relatively low overpotential,
